How to play Kalaha (Mancala)?
Classic Kalaha is a two-player turn-based board game played around the world. It is played with a board consisting of 12 small holes, two scoring wells and 48 stones.
1. Each player starts with 24 stones. Your “Kalaha”, “store” or “well” is the big basin to your right where you start collecting gems.
2. Place 4 stones in the six cups in front of each player. Each player owns the six holes closest to them.
3. Choose which player is going first. Flip a coin or choose a person at random.
4. The game moves clockwise. The first player takes all four stones from one cup on their side and places one stone in each adjacent cup.
5. If your Kalaha is on the way, place one gem in your cup. Keep in mind to put stones only in your own Kalaha, not your opponents, just skip it.
6. If the last stone falls into your Kalaha, you have another turn.
7. If the last stone you drop is an empty cup on your side, capture that stone along with all the stones in the cup directly opposite and place them in your well.
8. Take turns picking up stones from any cup on your side and placing them clockwise.
9. The game ends when all 6 cups of one player are empty. The player who has stones left on their side captures those.
10. The winner is the player with the most stones.
Object of the game is to collect as many pieces as possible before one of the players clears their side.
